Post 1 - David Tyrell : Can I review this show (saturday morning breakfast) instead of Nitro?
Post 2 - Dave Smalley : I only wrote it for shits and giggles
Post 3 - Myself : ... So you really didn't like Nitro, Ty? Well, I'm sorry... I tried to put alot of work into it. Seeing as Dave is a much better writer than me, and he's gotten more attention for WSE, I've decided to quit and give it to him. I'm just not very funny. Sorry for wasting all your time.
John Leary doesn't like it, you don't like it Ty, and Ben doesn't really like it, so yeah, I'm quitting. It's not worth writing it if it sucks ass and everybody hates it. I'm sure Dave will do a much better job with it than I ever could.
Post 4 - David Tyrell : Before you pack up all of your toys and go home....
The reason why I asked to review this show rather than the last one is that I assumed this was the most recent WSE show. I had no idea Dave wrote this instead of you Mac Bry. I assumed this was a collaberation between the two of you.
Also, if you are writing something strickly to get feedback it's most likely you are going to come away disappointed. It's very rare to get feedback on a regular basis. You should write because you enjoy writing.
Post 5 - Myself : Ty, I know you knew this was done by Dave, because he's the one that posted it. And John TOLD me on the BOB forum that Nitro and the rest of my shows just aren't good. I know I've overreacted a bit since reading your comment and his feedback, but the fact remains ; I'm NOT funny. Otherwise, people wouldn't be saying I'm not. As I told him, what's the point of writing something that nobody likes. What's the point of doing ANYTHING that nobody enjoys. Seriously, what's the point of doing something for yourself? I've never truly understood how people could say that, and I've been told it several times.
I mean. if you're just going to do it for yourself, you may as well write everything in a wordpad file, and NEVER post it anywhere, for all the good it does... can you explain it to me?
Post 6 - David Tyrell : I'll put it to you this way...
If you think the show sucks then the show sucks.
You have to believe in yourself before you have any chance of someone else believing in you.
Post 7 - Leary : Since I got mentioned here, I might as well hop in...
I told Shane the following via PM on BOB's forums about Nitro:
"I dunno, dude. I know you really want me to like your shows, but I just can't get into them. There is just too much announcers, too many random references, and too little character/feud stuff happening to keep my interest. It's all referencing WWE/TNA guys to the point where you might as well just handle WWE/TNA guys and get it over with when you're just flat out using their catchphrases.
Good luck with your big Wrestlenympho show. Hope it is well received. WSE just isn't my thing as it's put together right now. But it seems like some others are getting into it, so soldier on."
I'm sorry that I'm just not that into WSE, but I'm only one guy. Ben had some similar notes about your shows in his reviews. You can take our suggestions and try to improve so that the action is the focus rather than just a bunch of silly names and ripped off WWE/TNA characters. I've been telling you this for a long time. It's not because I hate your writing, it's because you're a good writer and could easily improve with some effort.
Or, if you don't feel like you're funny, why not try to write a serious show?
If you don't believe in yourself or your show, nobody else will. You can't be driven by reviews and good feedback, because you're not going to get positive responses every time. Nobody is.
Post 8 - David Tyrell : I finally had a chance to read the Nitro show.
Mac Bry,
You're obviously very creative. Keep doing what you are doing. If people don't like certain aspects of your work, that's fine. Decide what you want to do next to make the show better at least in your eyes.
Most creative people are never fully satisified with their own work. We are our own worst critics. Nothing anyone says negative should effect you as long as you don't take whatever is said too much to heart. Channel your passion for writing into what you're writing. Tell a story.
Balance the funny with the thought provoking. Bring your story out and find a way to relate to each and every person that reads your material. That's how you develop a fan base. Critics meanwhile will come and go. Screw them. I mean camel hump the fuck out of them. Put on the turbin Iron Sheik style and make them hummmmmble.
Everyone (no matter who you are) have critics. Don't let your own critism of yourself deter you from finding joy in your own writing. Laughing at your own jokes is ok. John Leary is a testament to this.
Psst.... bottom line....
WSE ROCKS!~
